Florida Sister, 26, Forces Younger Brother To Kneel On Rice For Hours As Punishment — What Police Found On His Knees Will Shock You

A 26-year-old Florida woman is facing child abuse charges after her young brother ran to a neighbor’s house, desperate for help, telling them he “couldn’t take it anymore.”

Nataly Francelia Cruz was arrested on Wednesday and charged with one count of child abuse without great bodily harm, according to Miami-Dade County court records. The incident reportedly took place at a home on Southwest Ninth Street in Florida City, a small suburb about 50 miles southwest of Miami.

What Happened

According to the arrest affidavit, the boy showed up at a neighbor’s residence around 4:45 p.m. and said he had been forced to kneel on rice inside a shed since 11 a.m. that same day — nearly six hours. He told the neighbor he simply couldn’t endure it any longer.

The neighbor immediately called police.

When officers arrived, the boy pointed directly at his sister, identifying her as his legal guardian since their mother had been deported. He said the punishment was given because he had “misbehaved” — and that this wasn’t the first time.

“He also reported that while kneeling, he attempted to use the restroom inside the house but his sister refused to let him inside the house,” the officer wrote in the report.

Visible Injuries Found

Police documented physical evidence supporting the boy’s claims. The responding officer wrote: “I observed minor injuries on his knees consistent with kneeling for a long time on a surface with rice.”

Cruz also gave a statement to police, but her remarks were reportedly redacted from the public document.

Arrest and Court Appearance

Cruz was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond. She appeared before 11th Judicial Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer on Thursday morning, where the court found probable cause for the charge.

The judge ordered Cruz to stay away from her brother.

Adding another layer to the case, jail records indicate Cruz is also subject to an immigration hold — raising the possibility of additional legal consequences beyond the abuse charge itself.
