For most of the 15-year history of the school, the Lady Coyotes’ soccer team was consistently frustrated in its bid to compete for district championships. No more. The team made history last night by defeating Dickson County 3-1 to claim the Class AAA, District 14 Championship.
After a scoreless first half, the Lady Coyotes exploded for three goals in the second half. Senior Madison Bennett scored all three goals, assisted by sophomore Aliya Everett, and freshmen Maliyah Warren and Amiyah Warren.
Named to the All-District Team were Bennett, juniors Kinleigh Lewis and Leilyn Mercado, and sophomore Brittany Williams.
The All-District Tournament team consisted of Bennett, Lewis, Mercado, Williams and Maliyah Warren.
Lewis was named Defensive Player of the Year, while Bennett was named Overall Player of the Year.
