KATY, Texas — What started as a late-night party ended in tragedy early Sunday morning when a man was shot and killed during a violent confrontation, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to the 24600 block of Sandal Springs around 12:15 a.m. after reports of a large fight. The situation escalated fast.
While the 911 caller was still on the line, shots rang out.
What Happened at the Scene
When deputies arrived, they found a man — approximately 45 years old — dead outside the home.
Investigators said multiple people were involved in the fight before the shooting. At some point during the confrontation, one person walked to a nearby vehicle, pulled out a firearm, and shot the victim multiple times.
The gathering was described as mostly family, though others outside the family were also present. Investigators do not believe the shooter was related to the victim or anyone hosting the party.
Video Evidence Points to a Targeted Attack
What makes this case stand out is the surveillance footage.
Based on video evidence recovered at the scene, investigators believe the shooting was not random. The shooter, they say, specifically targeted this man.
No shots were fired into the crowd. This was deliberate.
Investigation Still Active
The victim’s identity has not been released. Authorities are waiting to notify next of kin.
Detectives are actively working to identify the shooter. If a warrant is obtained, that information will be made public.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office immediately.
