A Woman Was Found Dead in the Middle of a Houston Road at 2 A.M. — The Driver Vanished

HOUSTON, Texas — A woman was found dead in the middle of a west Houston road in the early hours of Sunday morning, and the driver responsible has not been found.

Houston Police Department officers responded to the scene just before 2 a.m. on Sunday in the 7500 block of Bellerive Drive, near 6100 Marinette Drive.

When officers arrived, they found the woman lying dead in a moving lane of traffic.

Houston Fire Department crews were also called to the scene. Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the location.

Driver Fled Before Officers Arrived

According to investigators, witnesses at the scene told police that the suspected driver left immediately after the crash.

The suspect was gone before the first officers reached Bellerive Drive.

No description of the suspect, the vehicle, or any other identifying information has been released by police at this time.

Investigation Still Open

The Houston Police Department confirmed the case remains under active investigation.

Detectives have not yet announced any arrests or named a person of interest in connection with the woman’s death.

Authorities have not released the identity of the victim pending notification of her family.

Hit-and-run crashes are among the most difficult cases for investigators to close quickly — especially when they occur in the middle of the night with limited witnesses and no immediate evidence of the fleeing vehicle.

Anyone in the area of Bellerive Drive during the early morning hours of Sunday who may have seen anything is urged to contact the Houston Police Department.
