In a contest that was never in doubt, the flag football squad demolished Kenwood 46-0 on Thursday. The Lady Coyotes scored on every possession, while its defense dominated the Lady Knights’ offense.

The absence of offensive playmaker junior Madison Bennett made no difference, as sophomore Evelyn Alexander scored three touchdowns to lead the squad. Freshman Lyssandra Rodriguez added two touchdowns. Senior Ariy Denson also scored twice, once on an interception returned for a touchdown.

Defensively, seniors Denson and Jakayla Thomas, and sophomores Leilyn Mercado and Jes’onia Barefield put constant pressure on the Knights’ quarterback and runners. Missed tackles were few, and the Knights managed only one run of more than five yards.

In a game that will decide who will go to the championship, the Lady Coyotes will travel across town to face the Clarksville Lady Wildcats on Monday. The Wildcats handed the Coyotes one of their only two losses, a 6-0 defeat earlier in the season.
