West Creek’s futbol squad ran its record to 7-4-1 this past week by splitting two contests against Rossview High and Sycamore High.
District foe Rossview dropped the Coyotes 2-0 on Tuesday at the Hawks Nest. After a scoreless 1st half, the Hawks netted its first goal in the 43rd minute. That score stood until the 75th minute when the Hawks put the contest away with another goal.
The Coyotes rebounded on Thursday by defeating Sycamore’s Eagles 2-1. The Eagles came into the game with a 6-1-4 record. Its high-scoring offense was held in check by the stingy Coyote defense, however.
Seniors Alejandro Sandoval and Jelord Arning tallied a goal each. Junior Emanuel Mendez assisted on one of the goals.
As the season draws to a close, the Coyotes find themselves in third place in the district, behind Clarksville High and Rossview High. The Coyotes have only non-district contests remaining. This week they play at Dickson County on Tuesday, followed by a road trip to Henry County on Thursday.
