Flemington, New Jersey — A pedestrian was airlifted to a New Brunswick hospital Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle at a major intersection in Flemington Borough, according to authorities, prompting a large emergency response from multiple agencies across Hunterdon County.
The crash occurred at approximately 8:13 a.m. on June 15 at the intersection of Route 31 and Church Street, a heavily traveled crossing point in the borough. According to police, a Subaru Crosstrek hatchback was in the process of making a left turn onto southbound Route 31 when it collided with a pedestrian who was in or near the intersection at the time.
Following the collision, emergency crews arrived quickly and made the decision to airlift the injured pedestrian to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for advanced medical treatment. Authorities said the individual was listed in stable condition following arrival at the hospital. The driver of the Subaru was not injured in the crash.
The response to the scene involved several local agencies working together, including the Raritan Township Police Department, Readington Township Police Department, Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad, Flemington Fire Department, Hunterdon Medical Center paramedics and the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, reflecting the seriousness with which officials treated the incident.
The crash remains under active investigation by the Flemington Borough Police Department in conjunction with the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office. Investigators are working to determine the exact circumstances that led to the collision, including factors such as visibility, signal timing and right-of-way at the intersection.
