BREAKING WEATHER ALERT: Marquette Faces Days of Relentless Rain and Storms — Here's What's Coming

Marquette, Michigan — A prolonged stretch of cold, stormy weather is tightening its grip on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and forecasters warn residents to brace for nearly a full week of showers, thunderstorms, and dangerously wet conditions with no clear end in sight.

The National Weather Service has issued an extended forecast signaling that isolated showers and thunderstorms already battering the region Monday evening are just the beginning. By Tuesday, storm coverage expands significantly, bringing widespread rain and lightning that could disrupt commutes, outdoor work, and daily life across the entire Upper Peninsula.

What makes this weather event particularly concerning is the persistence. This is not a one-day storm — it is a multi-day siege.

Temperatures will remain stubbornly below normal for mid-June. Overnight lows will plunge into the mid-40s, while daytime highs struggle to reach the lower 70s. Residents in Marquette, Houghton, Iron Mountain, Munising, and Escanaba should prepare for rain on multiple days this week, with Wednesday and Thursday featuring the heaviest and most widespread shower activity.

Friday brings little relief, especially for communities in southern portions of the peninsula where another round of showers is expected.

The risks are real and immediate. Wet roads will create hazardous driving conditions during heavier downpours. Campers, hikers, and anyone spending time outdoors must monitor conditions closely and have an exit plan ready. Forecasters are firm on one critical safety warning — if you hear thunder, get inside immediately and do not return outdoors until storms have fully passed.

Five-Day Forecast — Marquette, Michigan

  • Tonight: Isolated showers and thunderstorms. Low 45°–50°
  • Tuesday: Showers and thunderstorms. High 59°–70°

  • Thursday: Showers. High 60°–72°, Low 43°–52°

Forecasters expect the unsettled pattern to continue through the weekend. Stay weather-aware, Marquette — this week demands it.
