A Minnesota man is behind bars after police say he drove drunk and slammed his Jeep into a motorcycle, killing the 31-year-old woman riding it. Robert Marines Rodriguez, 63, of White Bear Lake, is currently held at the Ramsey County Jail and faces charges of vehicular homicide.
The fatal crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. on June 10, near the intersection of Highway 61 and Highway 96. Officers from the White Bear Lake Police Department, Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, and Minnesota State Patrol all responded to the scene. The victim, Dana Lucker-Milan, was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
When troopers approached Rodriguez at the scene, they noted he smelled strongly of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes, and was slurring his words. He performed poorly on a field sobriety test and registered a 0.27 on a Breathalyzer — more than three times the legal limit of 0.08.
KEY FACTS
- BAC: 0.27 — over 3x the legal limit
- Prior DWI conviction from 2021
- Victim: Dana Lucker-Milan, 31
- Charge: Vehicular homicide
Initially, Rodriguez told police he believed he had a blinking yellow arrow at the intersection and did not see Lucker-Milan’s motorcycle when he turned. But during questioning, his story began to unravel. He eventually admitted to consuming a Bloody Mary and a shot of Fireball Cinnamon Whisky before getting into his vehicle that evening, according to court documents.
Court records also reveal that Rodriguez has a prior DWI conviction dating back to 2021 — making this his second alcohol-related driving incident on record.
Lucker-Milan was remembered as a beloved figure in Minnesota’s motorcycle community. Her brother, Jerrod Lucker — a mayoral candidate in Rochester — confirmed her passing on social media, calling it “a pain I would never wish on anyone.” Her sister, Brianna Weeks, said she was told Dana’s heart stopped in the ambulance before doctors could save her.
A celebration of Lucker-Milan’s life and a memorial motorcycle ride were held Sunday. Her funeral is scheduled for June 21. Rodriguez’s next court date has not been publicly announced.
