The boys wrestling squad swept all three of their opponents en route to the dual championship at the TSSAA Region 7 Duals at Kirkwood High School on Jan. 17.

The opening round saw the Coyotes face Northeast’s Eagles. The Coyotes overwhelmed the Eagles 77-4. Juniors Ty Hutchens, Allen Harris, Stephen Kpelafiya and William Avila, and seniors Evan Conley pinned their opponents in less than one minute. The Coyotes dropped only one match against the Eagles.

The semifinals saw the Coyotes face Kenwood’s Knights. Another dominant performance led the Coyotes to a 70-9 victory. Harris repeated his feat from the first match, pinning his opponent in 39 seconds. Seniors Standford Thompson and Arriez Fletcher also pinned their opponents in less than a minute.

In the first-place match, the Coyotes took on the Kirkwood Cobras. Although this match was closer than the first two, the Coyotes still took the win 54-21. Overall, the team took 10 out of 14 matches against the Cobras.
