Coyotes shut out second week in a row

Fall 10-0 to Rossview
Coyotes+shut+out+second+week+in+a+row

For the second week in a row, the Coyote football team found itself on the wrong end of a shutout. The offense failed to find the end zone in a 10-0 loss to the Rossview Hawks last Friday, dropping the team’s record to 0-3 (0-1 Region 7-6A) to start the season.

The Coyotes had a great opportunity to score after senior Nate Lucas intercepted Hawks quarter Reed Bryant’s pass deep in Hawks territory. However, senior quarterback Daniel Honeycutt’s pass to the end zone was intercepted.

The rest of the half saw neither team score. Rossview lined up for a field goal attempt to end the half, but the Coyotes’ Jayden Hines blocked it.

After halftime, the skies opened up. Neither team could move the ball effectively in the rain. However, a muffed Coyote punt game the ball to the Hawks at the Coyote 8-yard line. With a short field, the Hawks were able to score the only touchdown of the game, putting them ahead 7-0 at the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter saw more of the same defensive struggle from both teams. The Hawks added a 30-yard field goal to effectively put the game away.

On Friday the Coyotes will finally host their first game of the season against Kenwood (0-3, 0-1).
