Coyotes football looks to makes playoffs

Head football coach Rob Gallowitz wants to beat every other team in the city this season. That’s something that West Creek football has never done.

Anyone familiar with WCHS’s football history would say that this is an impossible goal. However, after last season’s two-game win improvement (4-6), and with a strong senior class, don’t discount the Coyotes.

Coach Gallowitz likes the leadership his seniors have shown. “They have worked on showing the younger classes how to carry yourself as a West Creek football player throughout the halls and on the practice field,” he said. “We will need them to show that same leadership on Friday night when we face adversity.”

This year’s squad has 28 seniors, the most seniors in recent history.

“I am very excited to see what this group of seniors can accomplish,” Coach Gallowitz said. “We remind them daily that this is their last chance to play high school football before they graduate.”

One thing that is different this season is a different region alignment. The Coyotes are a member of Class 6A Region 7, a region composed of all Clarksville high schools, excluding Montgomery Central, plus Dickson County High School. This means all games against county schools will count in the region standings.

If the Coyotes can defeat all the other six county schools, the Coyotes would certainly qualify for the playoffs, something the school has accomplished only once in its now 15-year history.

Coach Gallowitz sees only advantages in the new region alignment. “The biggest advantage is we are able to cut down on travel and get more fans in the stands,” he said. “It is much easier for families to see their favorite players play when they are right up the road.”
