Meet Andre Logan, from Raider to Governor ROTC

Andre+Logan+will+join+the+ROTC+program+at+Austin+Peay+this+fall.
Andre Logan will join the ROTC program at Austin Peay this fall.

West Creek’s JROTC program has consistently been recognized as one of the tops in the state, if not the nation. Senior battalion commander Andre Logan has helped keep it among the best.

Logan has been accepted into Austin Peay’s ROTC program for this coming fall. APSU’s Governor’s Guard has earned the General Douglas MacArthur Award eight times, an award that is given to only the top eight ROTC programs in the nation.

Logan seeks to continue his military education and go into the Army as a commissioned second lieutenant.

Logan has accomplished a lot throughout his high school years.  He decided to join APSU’s ROTC program because he personally felt like it is the best pathway for getting into the criminal justice side of the Army and also the best way to continue his family’s legacy. His grandfather, father, and brother served in the airborne.

Logan has many people who have supported him; however, one person who has influenced him the most is Sergeant Major Aaron Keener.

“Sergeant Major has always been there for me whenever I needed him and he always pushes me to be the best that I can be,” Logan said. “He tries to be a “dad” for everyone and set us up for the future by making us give our all. Somehow he knows how I learn and helps me learn that way.”

In addition to SGM Keener, being in the JROTC program, in general, has helped him. Logan speaks highly of the JROTC program: ”JROTC has prepared me by helping me learn the basics of the Army and get physically and mentally prepared for the next chapter of my life.”

Congratulations to Andre Logan on choosing to join Austin Peay’s ROTC program.
