Baseball roundup for week of April 3-7

On Monday, April 3, the baseball squad traveled to Northeast High to face the Eagles. The Coyotes came away with a 4-3 victory.

Senior Braden Canaan pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing three runs but only one earned run due to three defensive errors. Junior Andrew Garcia pitched 1 1/3 inning to earn the save.

Sophomore Dante Castro went 2-for-4 from the plate to pace the Coyotes’ hitting. Freshman Leo Muniz had 2 RBIs along with one double.

In the return game on Tuesday, April 4, Coyotes’ pitching could not find the plate, and the defense let down the squad in falling 14-2 in five innings to the Eagles.

Senior pitcher Colton Lovelace started the game but lasted just 2 1/3 innings. After giving up two runs in the first and one in the second, Lovelace allowed eight runs to cross the plate in the third inning.

Junior pitcher Nate Lucas fared no better, lasting only 1/3 of an inning and surrendering two earned runs. Freshman Landon Coots pitched the final 2 1/3 innings, giving up the final three runs.

The Coyotes’ record fell to 6-5 overall and 1-3 in district play.
