The week of April 3-April 7 has been designated National Assistant Principal’s Week. To honor West Creek’s four assistant principals, The Coyote Caller is publishing Q&A’s with the administration team so that readers can get to know more about the person behind the job.

Today’s Q&A is with Ms. Young, the 9th-grade administrator. Ms. Young has worked at West Creek since 2015.

Question: How long have you been an administrator?

Answer: “8 years”

Q: What subject area/grades did you teach?

A: “7th and 8th grade math”

Q: Where did/have you taught?

A: “Kenwood Middle, Montgomery Central Middle, and Richview Middle”

Q: Why did you choose to go into administrative work? 

A: “To be an instructional leader and help more students succeed”

Q: What is your favorite lesson within a subject to teach? 

A: “Problem-solving, especially uniform motions problems”

Q: What is a guilty pleasure for you?

A: “Chocolate”

Q: Dog or cat person?

A: Dog

Q: What positives do you see in this generation of students?

A: “They are aware of the necessity for self-care.”

Q: If you were stranded on a deserted island with only one genre of music to listen to, what would it be?

A: “A variety of everything except rap”

10. What is one interesting thing that students might not know about you? 

A: “My dad was in the Army, and we moved very often, so I attended 11 schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade.”
