How well do you know your administrators? This week we are publishing Q&A’s with the admin team so that you can get to see the person behind the job. Today’s Q&A is with Dr. Ferrell, the school’s head principal. Dr. Ferrell has been the principal of West Creek since August 2022.

Question: How long have you been an administrator?

Answer: “12 years”

Q: What subject area/grades did you teach?

A: “High school and middle school US History, Government, Personal Finance, and World Geography”

Q: Where did/have you taught?

A: “Alternative school, coached a Kenwood, summer school”

Q: Why did you choose to go into administration?

A: “I loved sports so I went into coaching, but I wanted to be over all of the sports as an athletic administrator, but in order to do that you had to be an assistant principal.”

Q: What is your favorite lesson within a subject to teach?

A: “Personal finance because of the lesson where you save from the ages of 28-25 so that in your 40s you’re set for the rest of your life after retirement.”

Q: What positives do you see in this generation of students?

A: “They come together and work together to see change. They are more willing to unify together and make things happen.”

Q: What is a guilty pleasure for you?

A: “I don’t have any guilty pleasures so I’ll give you two facts instead. I am married and have two children, and I dropped out of college for a period of time.”

Q: Dog or cat person?

A: “Dog person”

Q: If you were stranded on a deserted island with only one genre of music to listen to, what would it be?

A: “90s/early 2000s everything”

Q: What is one interesting thing that students might not know about you?

A: “I worked at an M&Ms and Twix factory.”
