Austin Peay State University will once again offer SOARing with Mathematics from May 30 to June 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
According to the program’s flyer, “The SOAR Academy is open to students who have completed high school mathematics courses that include at least Algebra I or Integrated Math I.”
During the four-day program, students will “create and test parachutes, helicopters, and rockets in order to analyze data, make predictions, test conjectures, draw conclusions and make decisions. Students will also be instructed in the use of computer software, graphing calculators, and motion detectors to represent, explore, and analyze the data from these projects.” Faculty from APSU’s math department will teach in the program.
There is no cost for participation, and lunch and all materials will be provided. Interested students are encouraged to apply. The priority application deadline is April 30. Registration information is available at www.apsu.edu/mathematics/soar.
