Question: How did you feel when you learned you had earned a spot in the Top 10?
Answer: I felt relieved that all of the hard work paid off.
Q: When did you first realize that you had a realistic opportunity to be in the Top 10?
A: I honestly thought there were so many people in my grade that I wouldn’t have made it in the Top 10, so I was surprised when Mr. Shehy told me.
Q: What has motivated you to succeed academically in high school?
A: College and just my own personal drive have motivated me to do well in high school.
Q: What class has been your most challenging during your high school career? Why has it been challenging?
A: AP U.S. History was hands down the most challenging class I have ever taken. The curriculum itself was not too hard, but the amount of work and constant homework made it difficult
Q: Which teacher would you like to call out specifically for the way he/she inspired you?
A: My Pre-Calculus teacher, Mrs. Hardison, has inspired me the most. She always goes the extra mile to ensure students understand the material.
Q: Why/how has this teacher inspired you?
A: She offered to meet me at a coffee shop for tutoring.
Q: Where do you plan on attending college? Why did you choose this particular college?
A: University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I was selected for an academic stay at the college, and ever since then, I’ve been in love with it.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A: I see myself in a stable career with a steady income.
Q: Who else would you like to thank for your academic success?
A: I would like to thank my parents because they have always supported me in school.
Q: What advice would you give to students who would like to emulate your success?
A: Always try your best and give the most effort you can, but know that grades don’t define you. There have been many times when I procrastinated and did my work at the last second, and that’s okay. It’s normal to want to have time for yourself. Time management is very important to maintain your grades, but always remember to take care of yourself too.
