5. Red: released October 12, 2012
I see the album Red as obsessive and regretful. It is also a mix between pop and country. “All Too Well” is a ten minute song about a vivid past relationship capturing the heartbreak even after time has passed. “I Knew You Were Trouble” captures how she is falling in love with someone that is not good for her and then regretting it.
4. Folklore: released July 24, 2020
- This album won album of the year in the 2021 Grammy Awards, and it shows fiction and reality as well as love, regret and healing. “Cardigan” is about a lost love; meanwhile, “Exile ft. Bon Iver” is about miscommunication and “Invisible String” is about fate and connections over time. She also sings about intimacy, like “Epiphany.”
3. Midnights: released October 21, 2022
- This album was created by sleepless nights and her thoughts lingering in her mind and unresolved emotions. Some of them are based on her insecurities like “Anti-Hero.” Other songs that refer to her past decisions are “You’re on Your Own Kid” and “Midnights.”
2. The Tortured Poets Department: released April 19, 2024
- The Tortured Poets Department is her 11th album. This album collaborates with Florence and the Machine in “Florida!!!” and Post Malone in “Fortnight.” This album time travels to her long past relationships and her current relationship, such as Joe Jonas and Travis Kelce: “So Long, London” and “So Highschool.” She also illustrates self reflection in “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” and “Clara Bow.”
1. 1989 (Taylor’s Version): released October 27, 2023
- I really enjoyed 1989 (TV), because the re-recorded version has matured so much since 2014 when the original 1989 was released. It also highlights her exploring self discovery, independence and freedom and healing from her past heartbreak, Harry Styles.
