Coach Malone talks to his team during a time out.

Last Thursday, Coach Russell Malone resigned as the head boy’s basketball coach.  Coach Malone had been the head boys’ basketball coach for nine years.

This past season, he led the Coyotes to a 17-12 record and has a 103-143 record in his tenure as head coach.

Coach Malone posted his farewell on his Instagram page: “After much thought, prayer and discussion with my family, I have decided to step down as the head basketball coach at West Creek High School,” he said. “In my nine years as the head coach, my staff and I have built a respectfully successful program that has seen our players grow on and off the court. I am extremely proud of what we have been able to accomplish.”

Coach Malone will continue to teach at West Creek but has not ruled out the possibility of coaching in the future.
