The Pack Playhouse will put on its fall production this weekend with Game of Tiaras.
Written by Don Zolidis, Game of Tiaras is a dark comedy that combines Shakespearean tragedy with a satirical take on fairy tales and modern culture. The play is a parody of King Lear, with elements of Game of Thrones, Disney princesses, and absurd humor.
Directed by theater teacher Taylor Lindsey, the one hour and 45 minute production follows an aging King who decides to divide his kingdom among his three daughters: Cinderella, Belle, and the Snow Queen. This decision sparks a ruthless power struggle as each princess vies for the throne. The sisters engage in scheming, betrayals, and bloodshed, all while hilariously poking fun at their Disney personas and Shakespearean archetypes.
“The play is a funny, action-packed adventure that everyone can enjoy,” Reagan Culver, 12, said. She portrays Snow White, who is the kingdom’s newcomer.
The production runs Friday, Nov. 22, Saturday, Nov. 23, and Sunday, Nov. 24. Friday and Saturday shows start at 7 p.m., while the Sunday matinee begins at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 on GoFan.
