Video Game Review: Hogwart’s Legacy

Hogwart’s Legacy is an open-world action role-playing game set in the late-1800s wizarding world. It is set approximately 100 years before Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

The game follows a young witch or wizard as they follow their own path at Hogwarts. Players can modify their appearance, gender and voice, and choose to which house they belong. Players learn spells and are aided by fellow students and professors.

Depending on which house the player is sorted into (or chooses), different quests activate. Gryffindor has the most side missions and Ravenclaw the least. Hufflepuff is the only house that gets to visit Azkaban prison. Through the course of the game, players can accumulate experience points (XP) to level up.

Now something that everybody might have on their minds–multiplayer. As of right now, there is no multiplayer feature, but the game does take up to 150 hours to complete one full playthrough,  not including playing as every house to get all the side missions.

There is no morality system either, which makes me really happy. You can just go around using “Avada Kedavra” in the halls. But unfortunately, you don’t get that spell till much later in the game.

I highly suggest picking this game up if you love Harry Potter or want a game to play to pass time.

It costs around $70 but I feel like it’s worth it.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions are already out. The PS4 and Xbox One versions drop in April and the Nintendo Switch version will drop sometime in either May-July.
